Texas Loves The Biggest Loser

Yesterday I returned from a book tour in Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth) to teach Positively Ageless classes at  local Central Market stores and share The Biggest Loser weight loss secrets. I was scheduled to teach a class in Austin last night too but unfortunately, the class was cancelled due to Hurricane Ike.

My first class was at the Houston Central Market , with the assistance of Chef Steven and his entourage of talented chefs and helpers. (All of the Central Market chefs were talented and made my job so easy -- thanks again everyone!!)

We prepared a full day's menu to demonstrate how easy (and delicious!) it is to eat the Positively Ageless way, which focuses on getting the most nutrient bang for every calorie buck. These are the same ingredients the contestants eat on the Ranch.

Our menu included:

  • Zinger Green Tea ( remember 3 - 4 cups of green tea per day can raise your metabolism by about 80 calories!)
  • Breakfast Polenta with Blueberries and Vanilla  (this scrumptious whole grain dish was cooked in milk to kick up the daily intake of calcium, a nutrient that most Americans are sorely lacking)
  • Wild Rice and Radicchio Salad with Tart Cherries and Toasted Nuts (another whole grain, high fiber dish, addictively delicious and really easy to prepare)
  • Grilled Salmon with Pomegranate Almond Sauce  (loaded with omega 3s - the ultimate antiaging fat)
  • Creamy Chocolate Pudding  (who knew that natural cocoa powder is loaded with antioxidants to slow the aging clock? and here again, we squeezed in another valuable serving of calcium by preparing the pudding with lowfat milk)

Stayed tune for more weight loss tips and recipes.  The premiere of the sixth season of The Biggest Loser is next Tuesday night (September 16) at 8pm/7pm CST on NBC. Don't miss it!!
